Description
SN. 47127 S75. A 12ga, 20ga, 28ga and 410ga set. All bbls are 28” w/2-3/4”cham. low profile matted ventilated top rib with white mid and Bradley front beads. All have scroll engraving flourishes, SN, proof marks and skeet choke markings on left sides. Custom skeet style forend is checkered in point pattern with floral and scroll engraved iron. Superposed receiver is adorned in beautifully engraved shaded scrollwork with gold wirework flourishes. Left side with large multi colored gold relief inlay of a flying pheasant. Right side with large gold relief inlaid grouse in woodland scene. Bottom of action with detailed large gold relief inlaid woodcock in oval. Engraved top lever with gold inlaid fleur de lis. Gold inlaid “S”, “ U” and “B” around engraved safety/selector slide. Long tang trigger guard is scroll engraved w/gold inlaid quail in gold wire border. Signed “JOHN WARREN ENG” on right trigger tang. The fine custom English walnut pistol grip buttstock is checkered in point pattern through the wrist w/monte carlo comb and terminating with black Old English pad is certainly by Warren as well. Housed in a Hartmann 4-bbl case. John E. Warren (1904-1987) is considered to be one of the most accomplished American engravers of the 20th century and the artistry and execution on this project is easily appreciated. WEIGHT: 8lbs. 12oz. CONDITION: Excellent retaining more than 97% beautifully custom finish to all wood and metal surfaces. Bores are all brilliant and shiny. Mechanics are fine. Stocks are sound with only minor handling marks. Case is excellent. MODERN.
