GOLCHER MAKER, No 116 GIRARD AVE PHILADELPHIA PA.” on top. Doll’s head extension on brls with shell engraving and scroll wedge. Splinter forearm is very nicely point pattern checkered with engraved steel tip, Deeley latch release, and iron. Casehardened sidelock hammer receiver with 3 bursts of scroll on each lock and is engraved “T. L. GOLCHER” at front, all surrounded by wave border. Brls fences are lightly sculpted and wave border engraved with scroll bursts towards top. Blued top lever is finely scroll engraved. Bottom of frame with engraved butterfly wings and border engraved trigger plate. Trigger guard has a very finely engraved marsh and field scene with 6 flying ducks on bow, SN at tang. The large horn capped full pistol grip buttstock has carved teardrops behind locks, is checkered in 3 point pattern at wrist, and terminates with its original lined horn buttplate. : Very good as field used and appears original throughout. Brls with about 75% of their toning Bernard pattern. Forend appears sound with checkering thinning at grip but overall fully visible and present. Iron has drifted to gray. Locks retain 20-30% of their original case color. Frame has drifted with some light staining. Trigger plate with 30% of its original light case color remaining. Trigger guard bow with fine engraving. Buttstock with numerous impressions and hunting bumps through with one particularly deep gash on right side of heel. Buttplate appears mostly sound with some worm holes at toe. Bores are very good with scattered pitting. Mechanics are fine. A very hard to find, higher grade example by this boutique maker. ANTIQUE.
