Description
SN. 1119A47. Cal. 12ga. Made with 28” brls that have slightly raised tapered matted top rib with small brass front bead. Top of left brl stamped “BROWNING ARMS COMPANY MORGAN, UTAH & MONTERAL P.Q. / MADE IN BELGIUM”. Right tube stamped on side “B-S/S SPECIAL STEEL 12GA. SHELLS – 2 -3/4” AND 3””. Chopper lump brls with SN, proof marks and Mod./Full choke marks are the polished brl flats. Bottom of right tube also stamped “MADE IN JAPAN”. Slim beavertail forend checkered in point pattern with coin finished relief floral engraved Deeley latch release and iron. Case colored interior iron with SN stamped. The scalloped boxlock action is beautifully hand engraved by noted Belgium Browning Factory engraver Andre Dierckx with ducks in marsh scene on left, pheasants in field scene on right, surrounded by shaded floral scroll. Trigger plate with two quail and floral scroll engraving in about 70% coverage. Trigger guard with shaded floral scroll and unengraved shield on bow and floral scroll at the long tang. Brl bolsters with leaf scalloping and punch dot shading. Top lever and top tang are nicely floral scroll engraved en suite. Gun made with nickel plated non-selective single trigger, auto ejectors, auto safety, and bushed disc strikers. The flat knop pistol grip buttstock is checkered in point pattern through the wrist and terminates with its original Browning HRBP. Buttstock with particularly nice fiddleback figure. Housed in its original Browning Airways case with wool interior and accompanied by a letter from Browning dated June 28, 1977, describing this gun by SN and having been sent in the white from Japan to be completed in Belgium. The letter states, “This gun is a special made creation developed in Belgium for both scenes and ornamentation. The engraving was done by Andre Dirsckx(SP), a famous artist employed by FN and Browning SA. The engraving and checkering are in the Grade V style.”. WEIGHT: 7lbs. 9oz. Condition
Extremely fine and near mint. Retains nearly all of its factory original finishes to all wood and metal surfaces. Gun appears to have been factory test fired only and shows almost no wear with only the faintest of handling marks. Bores are brilliant and shiny. Mechanics are crisp. Case is excellent with minor rubs and brl lug insert has loosened and frayed otherwise excellent. Really a most interesting and beautiful high grade BSS with a great story to tell. MODERN.
