Description
SN. R55860. Cal. 12ga. Brl Set 1 made with 30" fluid steel brl with matted concave top rib, small brass front bead. Grade and maker information on top of tubes. Brl flats with SN and contemporary "CHAMBERS - 3 - INCHES'' and maker proof marks. Brl Set 2 same as number 1, 2-3/4" chambers, only has SN on flats. Both splinter forends are checkered in point pattern. Has roll type release with lightly engraved banjo escutcheons. Full sidelock action engraved in Specialty pattern with duck in marsh on right, quail in grass on left and open scroll in about 40% coverage. Gun made with double triggers, extractors, auto safety. Capped pistol gripped buttstock is checkered in point pattern through the wrist and terminates with a Pachmayr white lined pad. SET 1: Weight: 7lbs. 14oz. Bore Diameter: .729(Both). Bore Restriction: .028(Rt) .038(L). SET 2: Bore Diameter: .729(Rt) .728(L). Bore Restriction: .005(Rt) .025(L). DAC: 1-5/8". DAH: 2-5/8". LOP: 14-15/16".
Condition
Good as heavily field used. Both brl sets retain more than 90% of an older rust blued finish. Brl Set 1 with scratching from improper attempted opening at forend tip. Forearm Brl Set 1 with checkering thinned from added finish. Brl Set 2 checkering thinned and minor gaping where wood and forearm iron meet. Receiver has toned silver. Buttstock with compulsory cracks behind locks and a small chip missing on top left finger. Checkering has thinned, finish added throughout. Pad is beginning to harden. Bores are mostly bright and shiny. Mechanics are fine. 3" chamber marking on 30" brl set is spurious. With some restoration effort, this gun could be made glorious again. C&R.
