Description
SN. 48692. Made with 30" Siemen's Fluid Steel brls, 3" chambers, that have raised matted tapered rib with small steel front bead. Rib inscribed "W.W. GREENER 68 HYMARKET LONDON & ST MARY'S BIRMINGHAM ENGLAND, WINNER AT THE LONDON GUN TRIALS, 1875 1877 1878 & 1879, SIMEN STEEL". Breech end of brl with large pigeon engraved in oval panel and ring of engraving around breech. Polished brl flats show "3" MAG" & "4 TONS" proof marks on bottom of tubes with trademark stamps and SN. Splinter forearm checkered in point pattern with Anson push button release and lightly scroll engraved irons. Interior forearm with SN and "GRADE M" engraved. Greener's patent crossbolt boxlock action with sculpted fences is casehardened with scroll engraving on sides and engraved "W.W. GREENER" in banner. Blued trigger plate nicely scroll engraved in about 40% coverage as is the blued trigger guard which has bursts of scroll on bow and SN tang. Gun made with double triggers, auto ejectors, non-auto side safety. Mounted with a gorgeous piece of highly figured European Walnut which is checkered in 2 point pattern through the wrist, has round ball grip and terminates with a fine brown leather covered pad. Gun is housed in a period full leather brass appointed case with blue felt interior. Case with oil bottle and snap caps as well as key and maroon leather pouch. WEIGHT: 7lbs.2 oz. Min. Condition
Extremely fine as competently restored in best quality. Brls retain more than 97% of their beautiful restored rust blue. Forearm is crisp and sound retaining nearly all of its beautifully restored finish. Action with virtually all of its beautifully restored case color and polish. Buttstock is excellent with scattered light handling marks, retains more than 97% of its beautifully restored finish. Buttstock with very tight beginning grain separations at action on right and one older repaired separation on top left at frame rebate. Case is good to very good with scrapes and impressions. Relining is excellent as are accessories. C&R.
